These compare oil — a key input cost for miners — against each metal’s own price. When oil rises faster than a metal, that metal’s production costs are effectively climbing relative to what it sells for, and margins get squeezed. When oil falls behind, the opposite happens, and margins improve. This is an observation of relative price movement only — not a signal to buy or sell.
